Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o is a Kenyan author. His work includes novels, plays, short stories, essays and scholarship, criticism and children's literature. He is the founder and editor of the Gikuyu-language journal, Mutiiri. The reason why Ngugi is the greatest writer to have come from East and Central Africa is because, like Peter Abrahams in South Africa and Chinua Achebe in West Africa, he writes about big subjects. The three writers are for literature what Kwame Nkrumah, Jomo Kenyatta and Nelson Mandela are for politics. DENIM FLOWS

Tis the season for denim. With the fall yet upon us again, I think denim will make a bigger splash this year, than in most recent seasons. I purchased one the other day, I most definitely will purchase more when I return to NYC. It's a versatile outer layer there's so much you can do to it. Dress it up with a button down and tie or simply with a t-shirt or a hoody.

This tattoo is quite interesting with the KAWS classic skull head, and the DeeandRicky lego heart, it has too much of comic feel for my liking but I am definitely impressed by the creativity. You can see Sailor Jerry influences (i.e. the pin up girl) I guess I like tattoos to be a bit more darker/gothic, hence my love for Russian tattoos - YB

What a lot of people don't know is that I am avid chess player, my uncle used to challenge me and my younger brother a lot lol. I was probably the weaker player out of the trio. Still this quote by Mr.Duchamp resonates with me. G Star Raw denim recently placed world no.1 ranked player Magnus Carlsen in a few of their adds. The quote translates to "Not all artists may be chess players, but all chess players are artists." My uncle being an artist as well truly resonates this statement.

I had the privilege of checking out MR.BRAINWASH <MBW> exhibit whilst in NYC. Unfortunately I showed up too late the first day, hence my expression. I made it in the next day though : - ).

The overall feel was a good one, there was an eye catching display around every corner. I would have not been surprised if there was something in the ceilings and rooftops.
